I LOVE CHRISTMAS !!!
I love to decorate, drink hot cocoa, watch Christmas movies, and spend time with the family; all while picking out Christmas gifts for loved ones and planning our Christmas Day meal.
The hustle and bustle of a hectic schedule for a few weeks doesn’t bother me. As I’ve gotten older, I realize that all my frenzied juggling is done with an effort to spend time with everyone.
More importantly, I love Christmas because it’s a season of reflection. After Christ’s birth, Scripture tells us, ‘Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart (Luke 2:19).’ We too, must use this season to reflect upon our spiritual growth over the past year.
Here are a few questions to ponder……
Am I devouring God’s Word?
We are hungry for the Word of God. Through Scripture, we find comfort and guidance. Are we prioritizing Bible Study on busy days?
Am I trusting God’s supreme power?
God has everything planned. His will is for our good. Do we see His intentions clearly, or do we lose focus amidst physical, emotional, and spiritual hardships?
Am I praying?
Prayer is our lifeline to our Heavenly Father. Consistent communication is key to strengthening our faith. Are we taking everything to God in prayer?
Am I loving?
God placed upon us a tremendous responsibility. We are tasked to love others so that we reflect His mercy and grace. How loving have we been to our community, family, and friends?
Am I grateful?
God is present in times of trouble. He is our refuge and provides all we need to survive. Are we focused on our hardships instead of the bountiful blessings God has bestowed upon us?
God presented the gift of salvation to us in the form of an infant, wrapped in swaddling clothes, and placed gently in a manger. There is nothing more precious than holding a newborn! We handle them with caution and tenderness; they have our undivided attention.
Our salvation requires the same attention as we ponder our spiritual growth. Each Christmas, we know there is nothing more precious than the love of God, nothing more sacred than the gift of everlasting life.
Merry Christmas!!!
