The art of being a people pleaser sounds friendly, but there there are many dangers involved !!! People pleasing becomes harmful when we allow it to control us. It causes our personality to change in an unhealthy manner as we hide our feelings and change our natural behavior with little white lies. There is a huge difference between being kind and allowing the feeling to please people to control you.
People pleasing leads to poor mental health
By constantly trying to please others, we hold our true feelings back when they say something that hurts or causes anger. Perhaps we are put in social settings we aren’t comfortable in and do not want to speak up. Pushing back your feelings becomes destructive to your mental health because it leads to depression, instability, anxiety and even depression
People Pleasing Changes Our Natural Demeanor
We spend more time trying to figure out what others want us to be instead of just being ourselves when we allow people pleasing to take control. Believe it or not, this can actually change your natural behavior. Instead of just being ourselves, we start to act like we are someone else so that our demeanor is more pleasing to others.
People Pleasing inspires little white lies
Little white lies appear to be just that, little. We don’t consider ourselves big fat lairs if we just tell a little lie to hide feelings or make our life appear more pleasing. Little lies are dangerous because they will eventually come to light, and when they do, people will see all the little discrepancies. This causes our loved ones to back away and separate themselves form us.
We all want to make those around us happy, everyone simply wants to be loved. We must remember that politeness and helpfulness are mush different from allowing the act of people pleasing to become a controlling behavior in life.
