Before the hustle and bustle of all our family events ensue, it’s important to sit back and think a minute; What are we REALLY thankful for THIS Thanksgiving?
God, food, family, and friends?
That’s my first response, but what else?
A member of my Bible Study class told us about a friend of hers who kept a gratitude journal. So far, the journal contained a list of 1,000 things she was grateful for with NO duplications!
A wave of shame crashed upon me! I am super grateful for everything, but I don’t take a lot of time to acknowledge all the small things.
I praise the Lord multiple times throughout the day. I thank Him for my family in the school drop-off line, and I’m grateful for our finances as I check out in the grocery store. I’m thankful for my mode of transportation and the roof over my head. I praise God for letting me rise every morning to place my head on the pillow each night.
I’m incredibly thankful for my pets! They keep me company when I’m blogging with my morning coffee and make each day more entertaining than the last. I pause to praise God throughout the day for so many things.
But, could I make a list of 1,000 things I’m grateful for with no duplicates right now?
How about you?
What are we really thankful for this Thanksgiving?
God takes care of us in so many little ways. We cannot begin to count our blessings or understand their significance to our lives.
Let’s rise to the occasion this Thanksgiving and acknowledge all the small things. Let us lift our eyes to heaven with even more gratitude than ever before.
"Give thanks to the Lord for he is good, his love endures forever." 1 Chronicles 16:34
