Stay at home and work from home moms have a lot to juggle. It’s important to have an efficient routine, and it takes daily encouragement to keep it going. There are many ways to lay everything out using planners, lists, or timers. We all have a unique routine to get us through the day.
I fail every single day. Instead of sharing a nice, neat post about how to keep it all together, I’m going to let you in on how my work from home mom routine is a total failure!
I’m a Failure Due to Daily Interruptions
Â
Are you with me so far?
I’m going to skip the nightmare of getting youngsters ready for school.
Once I get seated at my desk, along comes the daily load of distractions. There are forgotten doctor appointments to confirm, issues with cable signal, and a random visit from the water company; followed by unexpected calls from school regarding forgotten homework.
Today I have a sick doggo.
Daily interruptions cause stress and anxiety, especially when I did my due diligence to make a nifty itinerary.
Take a look at Proverbs 16.
We are told, over and over again, that we can make the best of plans with good intentions, but God is the one who is in control.
I’m a Failure Because I can’t say ‘no’
I can’t prevent daily interruptions, but I DO have control over my ability to say NO.
I am a people pleaser and that is not a good thing when you take a close look at all the terrible things that come with the desire to please people all the time.
Due to this burdening characteristic, I have a difficult time saying No.
I don’t want to let my friends down, I don’t want to bail on church responsibilities and I don’t want to upset anybody in any way when there are emergencies.
Take a look at Galatians 1:10.
It is a clear reminder that we do not live for ourselves, we live for God. We were not created to please people, we were created with the desire to live in Christ and please God.
I’m a Failure Because There is too Much Housework!
I work from home, so shouldn’t I be able to keep everything tidy?
That’s a big NO!
Work from home parents have a LOT of work to do so we mustn’t allow busywork to consume us.
Take a look at Luke 10:38-42.
Martha was busy with her busy work instead of listening to Jesus. He kindly reminds her that there are more important things to be busy with. We each have a spiritual gift that the Lord has blessed us with. We are to use that gift for God’s glory. We can rely on the Holy Spirit to guide us to see the important things instead of the busywork.
I’m a failure with my work-from-home mom routine but I’m not worried. I’ll search the web for ways to better myself and try them over time. If I ever get it right, I promise to fill you in.
In the meantime, I’m just going to rely on the Holy Spirit to get me through the day.
His planned routine for my life is more important anyway!
