Count it all joy, my brethren, when you meet various trials, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing (James 1:2-4).
Our local state park is incredible, and I’m always in awe of its beauty as we drive through the winding roads or hike off the beaten path. The forest is breathtaking, filled with bright green foliage that bends slightly to form a rainbow overhead.
Â
God’s creation is astounding!
Â
This past weekend, the park offered it’s roadway to marathon runners, an I was exhausted watching them climb hills and round the never ending curves. It must be torture to think the finish line is just around the corner, when you still have a long way to go.
Â
James tells us we will experience many trials in our lifetime. He explains that we can consider our hardships joyous occasions because they strengthen our faith and understanding.
Â
We often feel defeated, winded, and exhausted by the marathon of life; but we do not give up!
As Christians, we see the finish line differently than the rest of the world. We know each curve in the road brings us closer to God by building our character and strengthening us spiritually.
Â
Dear Heavenly Father, We call upon your Spirit to help us find joy in our hardships. We trust You amidst our troubles to strengthen our faith and spiritual growth. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
