Odd title, right? Shouldn’t I be telling you what store to head to or which Amazon link to click for the best deal of the season? Shouldn’t I tell you about phenomenal discount codes or perhaps share my secret ‘Mommy Ninja’ moves that enable you to hold coffee and phone in one hand while you sift through cashmere sweaters and push a baby stroller with the other?
Well, that would be an awesome idea and I’ll definitely save that info for another year. Today, lets focus on getting our attitudes in the right place before stepping foot into the shopping arena.
Black Friday has an odd effect on human nature. There is a raw animalistic appetite brewing for the opportunity to acquire something for nothing. It begins as pure delight at the thought of browsing lotion store for the perfect scent for that perfect person and then somewhere along the way it explodes into a wild ravenous fit when the girl at the check out cant locate the proper discount code.
My oh my how the sweetest personalities transform into a nightmare!
And every day, in the temple and from house to house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ. Acts 5:42
Every day! Our ancient scriptures include modern shopping days like Black Friday. There is a lot going on in the hustle and bustle of holiday shopping. Remember that it’s not just a day to shop, it’s a day we can be on the lookout for little moments we can show patience, kindness and Christian love to those who are finding the day a bit miserable.
In the temple and from house to house! We are to take our message from the church out into the world and even from store to store. Lines are long and feet get tired. Don’t become lazy with your kind gestures. Hold the door open. allow someone to cut ahead, Share the wealth by giving a stranger an extra coupon or paying it forward when you see a need.
They did not cease. We cannot stop! We must be diligently looking for the opportunity to share the message of eternal life. Keep your eyes alert and your words ready to illustrate the hope we have in our loving Savior.
We all have bad days. We all feel stress. 2020 is like a dark shadowy cloud of impending doom. That’s not an excuse for a bad attitude towards our neighbors.
Check your attitude before you lose sight of a moment to witness to those who have not met Jesus. Every second in time is golden opportunity to teach and preach about Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
Be patient to the girl at the check out counter.
Be courteous to the elderly man in front of you .
Be attentive to each and every person in you path so you may do everything possible to introduce them to the Lord!
My black Friday warning is really an everyday warning.
Happy Shopping until we meet again!
